The AI World Recently
This is AI’s world, and we’re just living in it. Or so it seems…
Since the start of the year, artificial intelligence (AI) has pretty much been the talk of the town.
We’ve all been smitten by OpenAI’s ChatGPT, the conversational, human-sounding chatbot that has become a marketer’s go-to.
Then, Google tried to follow suit with its very own Bard. Just when we thought ChatGPT finally had a worthy opponent, the test launch was a letdown.
After which, Microsoft announced its continued partnership with OpenAI and its goal to democratize AI as a new technology platform.
Few days later, it also announced that it will integrate ChatGPT’s technology on its own search engine, Bing, with the goal of revolutionizing search.
As these two giant companies seemingly engage in an intense pursuit to get ahead of one another, sites like Opera and Baidu are also joining the race.
Suffice to say, both established and startup companies are now looking for ways on how to adopt generative AI in their businesses.
Meta, for one, is currently working on integrating AI into its platforms to improve the user experience through “creative and expressive tools” and AI personas that support users better.
Snapchat also recently unveiled “My AI for Snapchat,” powered by the GPT tech that aims to give users recommendations, organization, and content creation options.
While all these AI innovations are well and good, let’s not forget that they aren’t perfect.
In fact, here’s what ChatGPT, yes the actual chatbot, has to say:
“Basically, we make educated guesses based on what you’ve typed before. And let’s be real, sometimes we get a little carried away with those guesses. Plausible-sounding statements aren’t always factual, folks.”
While we wait for MS Bing to overcome its angsty teenager mode and for Google’s Bard to redeem itself, let’s enjoy what existing technologies have to offer.
